Auditor General receives CBE in Queen’s honours list

The Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

He has been made Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to public audit and accountability in Wales”

Huw Vaughan Thomas, who retires in July, has been Auditor General for Wales for nearly 8 years. He has spent nearly 5 decades working in public service, with previous roles including the Department of Employment Director for Wales and Chief Executive of Gwynedd and Denbighshire councils.

The Act requires public bodies in Wales to think about the long-term impact of their decisions, to work better with people, communities and each other, and to prevent persistent problems such as poverty, health inequalities and climate change. The Act is unique to Wales and offers a huge opportunity to make a long-lasting, positive change to current and future generations.

The conference brought together senior professionals working in publicly funded organisations across Wales who are covered by the Act.
