Challenges for the cultural sector

  • Flag of Wales
  • What we're doing

This work is considering whether public bodies in the culture sector have appropriate arrangements to secure financial sustainability over the short and longer term, in line with their well-being objectives.

The work covers Amgueddfa Cymru, the National Library of Wales, the Arts Council of Wales, and Sport Wales.

    Why we're doing it

Each body has been facing significant financial pressures arising from a combination of factors, including rising costs and a reduction in Welsh Government grant in aid funding for 2024-25.

We wanted to understand how sustainable each body’s finances were and how they are dealing with these pressures in the here and now and planning for the future.

    When we'll report

    Spring 2025
