Biodiversity – pan public sector

  • View of Cambrian mountains
  • What we're doing

This report will look at how well the public sector is discharging current responsibilities for nature – specifically the biodiversity and resilience of ecosystems duty under section 6 of the Environment (Wales) Act 2016.

    Why we're doing it

The Senedd declared a nature emergency in 2021 and the Welsh Government has committed itself to embedding its response to the climate and nature emergency in everything it does.

At a time when the Welsh Government is considering strengthening environmental legislation, our report will reflect on how public bodies have responded to the existing section 6 duty and what lessons can be learnt for the future.

    When we'll report

    Winter 2024-25
