Cancer services

  • Patient receiving care from a doctor
  • What we're doing

This report will provide an overview of the performance of NHS Wales in respect of cancer diagnosis and treatment. It will comment on the national strategic approach to secure improvement in cancer services, including arrangements for overseeing implementation of the Cancer Improvement Plan for Wales.

    Why we're doing it

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Wales. Despite real term spending on cancer services in Wales increasing by 54% over the last thirteen years, NHS Wales is not meeting its target for starting cancer treatment. We are looking for evidence of strong national leadership and a coherent national policy and planning framework to help drive the improvements that are required in this priority area.

    When we'll report

    Winter 2024-25
