  • This Annual Plan covers 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 and includes additional information on our longer-term strategy and key performance indicators.

This Annual Plan marks the fourth year of our existing 5-year strategy and the final year under the existing Auditor General, Adrian Crompton, before his eight-year term finishes. It outlines our priorities in terms of our audit work and how we operate as a business.

In our Annual Plan, we give an update on our programme of work and new work we plan on starting in 2025-26. In 2025-26, we will continue the progress made over the last two years to bring forward the reporting deadlines for our audit of accounts work. We also aim for further improvement in the timeliness of the performance audit work we deliver at individual NHS and local government bodies.

The plan, including a summarised web version, is now available on our website.
